I love the wide expanse of fields. There's something very cinematic about wide open spaces. This painting was inspired by a photo I took in Salzburg, Austria, on a Sound of Music bike tour. The tour had started out in the pouring rain, but then it cleared up and we biked out of the center of town into the countryside, past these gorgeous Austrian fields. Fields are ordinary and ubiquitous. But there is extraordinary beauty there too. In this painting, I wanted to focus on that feeling of being in a wide open space where our mind begins to clear.
